WiFi
WiFi(tm) The Standard for Wireless Fidelity
WiFi is a marketing brand for 802.11b that seems to be owned by the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (
WECA). The idea is that any equipment bearing the WiFi logo will be able to talk to any other WiFi branded equipment - hence it is a symbol of interoperability.

WECA maintains a list of
WiFi certified products on their web site.
It's supposedly short for Wireless Fidelity.
Go figure.
