TIMSHEL/AT/SHELS/DOT/NET
THE GOOF FORMERLY KNOWN AS TIMSHELKNOLL [1] ...
I was TimshelKnoll [2], but am now married and in possession of a
double-barrel name
I live at NodeDDE [3] in Footscray. Yes, Timshel is a wierd name, but
it's my real name, so don't abuse it .
I'm a final year (yes... or at least I'm telling myself that this is
my final one) Computer Science student at RMIT [4]. Until recently,
when I converted to using and working on NetBSD [5], I was a Debian
GNU/Linux [6] developer/maintainer, and have been hooked on
Linux [7] and BSD [8] *nix stuff since my first RedHat [9]
3.3 install in '97. As well as being a Melbourne Wireless member, I'm
a member of Linux Users of Victoria [10]. My povo student status means
that I'm taking my time getting enough stuff together to build my
node. :-(
I've got an Enterasys card [11] and RICOH PCI cradle [12] and am
currently working on a Waveguide Cantenna [13] using a Golden Circle
juice can. Read NodeDDE [14] for more details.
TODO
* Do more testing / playing
* Finish building and test some home-brew cantennas - I do the
"other" sort of home brewing, so I want to test how homebrew kit cans
go as cantennas ...
* Build a dedicated box
* Read up on and play around with various protocols, including OSPF
(Zebra / Quagga) and IPSEC (FreeS/WAN)
* Get up on the roof and set up some kind of antenna mast. My
housemate actually scored a 12M mast from somewhere, but I think it's
too tall to legally use without a permit. I'm not sure how long I'll
be in my current house, either, so might wait and see what the next
house provides ...
* Borrow a digital camera and put up some photos from my roof ...
I'm hoping to get more involved in WGRoutingAddressing [15], and
maybe also in WGSolarPower [16] in the future.
