Spelling: PSTN

Public Switched Telephone Network, the network nearly all telephones
use to make calls. When you ask for the number of that cute guy/gal at
the pub, you are probably wanting their PSTN [1] number.

There are alternate ways to make phone calls, one of which is using
VoIP [2] to make calls over the internet. If you wish to place a call
from a VoIP [3] phone to a PSTN [4] phone you will need to use a PSTN
gateway service.
