JPU is a node created as a routing or repeater point through St Kilda
Road in Melbourne. The site is south of the CBD and is located on the
roof of a commercial building.
The node is an intermediate connection between Digital River's Fibre
backbone and the Melbourne Wireless Radio Network.
Currently underway is the interconnection of the node to HVC over a
VLAN link. As at 30th August 2009 this connection was in testing. The
actual connection is not radio but fibre based via the Melbourne
Wireless national interconnect setup.
The node is also being connected to KCQ (Melbourne PC Users Group)
under a project to being this content onto the Melbourne Wireless
Backbone.
Routing updates will also sent and received from this Node using OSPF
and BGP4.
IP Address allocations for this also include:
203.29.52.2 Interconnect point to the Melbourne Wireless National
Bankbone
203.29.52/28 Local Interconnection services. (390 St Kilda Road local
nets)
Finally the site has been selected as the second Internet
interconnection location.
