PSTN

Public Switched Telephone Network, the network nearly all telephones use to make calls. When you ask for the number of that cute guy/gal at the pub, you are probably wanting their PSTN number.

There are alternate ways to make phone calls, one of which is using VoIP to make calls over the internet. If you wish to place a call from a VoIP phone to a PSTN phone you will need to use a PSTN gateway service.

Having just got off the phone iwith ATP, they seem keen enough to offer a discount to Melbourne Wireless memebers, and I'm keen enough to make the discount process work smoothly. More news to come... -- TysonClugg
