09/10/10 - Installed a Ubiquiti Picostation M2HP (a 1 watt, 6db omni on 2.4 ghz) on the top of the mast to allow for connections to this node. Range tested to be about ~200 metres with a mobile phone without significant drop in signal reception, and will be attempting to do some further range / throughput tests in the near future using some proper directional equipment / proper range.
Routing seems to be working correctly to / from clients on the omni, and the subnet which ive been allocated and am using for the omni (10.10.66.64/28) is being advertised to OSPF.
27/09/10 - Installed new mast on apex of roof. Link quality to KHI has improved drastically. Current signal strength at -71db, with an airmax signal quality of 45% and TCP throughput of about 5 megabytes per second.
Ordered a Ubiquity Picostation (1Watt Version) and hope to have that installed in two or three weeks.
29/05/10 - Installed Node (Ubiquiti Nanobridge M5) and secured link to KHI.
Current signal strength at -87db, with an
AirMax signal quality of 38%.
Confirmed current maximum throughput of the link of ~500kilobytes per second.
Will put another mast on the apex of the roof, which should raise the current height of ~5 metres to approx 8 metres. Once this is done, ill put an omni on top and allow others to connect.
