IPv4
Internet Protocol, version 4.
Defined by the IETF in RFC791, this is the protocol most widely used as the basis of the Internet.
It is normally most visible as an IPAddress, which in version 4 has the format
nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
where nnn is a number between 0 and 255.
IPv4 is in the process of being superceded by IPv6, although the transition will take a very long time (like, decades).
