Downconverter
downconverter is a device that is often used in terrestrial (across the ground) pay TV such as Galaxy, in those models the input frequency was ~2200Mhz and the output frequency was low enough that a regular TV could tune to the signal. Because they lower the frequency the coax losses from the antenna to the TV are lower than running 2200Mhz to the TV, so cheaper coax could be used.
