Channels

A channel is a number associated with a frequency within the ISM band (in Australia, this is between 2400 MHz and 2483.5 MHz).

The IEEE 802.11/802.11b standards specify a series of channels. The following channels are allowed to be used in Australia, in accordance with the ACMA:

Note that some devices also have a 14th channel, which operates at 2485MHz. This channel is only available in Japan.

You may also be interested to know that almost all microwave ovens use the frequency 2450 MHz (the resonate frequency of water).
