802.11g

IEEE 802.11g is a standardisation effort aimed at allowing the high bit rates of 802.11a, but using the 2.4GHz ISM band (as used by 802.11b).

802.11g will be backwards compatible with 802.11b. The IEEE confirmed the 802.11g standard in June, 2003. Not to be confused with Broadcom's early implementation, 54g.
