NEWS

* 24/07/05 - Still have everything needed to setup but still havent
achieved a link and have given up until renewed enthusiasm
* 22/10/04 - HTP now has all equipment ready for mounting. Linux
server is operation - all is ready to go. Plans to get it operational
for this sunday.
* 26/09/04 - HUY HTP survey LOS
* 16/08/04 - ECF HTP survey LOS
* 29/08/04 - No signal was available between ECF & HTP, trying other
methods and adding some height to clear the trees
* 26/09/04 - Tested HUY HTP using downpipes.

-------------------------

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Yes, that's right! We've established a link using a Toshiba MiniPCI
[17] card in a laptop on one end, connected to ECF's waveguide with a
Veritech on the other... OVER 700 METERS!

Strangely hard to believe? I thought so too... But check it out.
There's a semi-perminent link established between NodeECF [18] and
NodeIIA [19]. And here's the even HARDER to believe part.. This link
is established at 11Mbps... Send/Receive BOTH ways, and communication
is possible... In your face laws of 2.4Ghz

Rob - NodeHTP [20] reporting from Altona.. Back to you Kent.

-------------------------

Master craftsman Adrian NodeHUY [21] has made a cheap microwave
stable enclosure dubbed the cocoon by Rob NodeHTP [22] see below ..
Do-It-Yourself Rob NodeHTP [23] opted to go the way of the pool stick
mast, complete with taped on downpipe see below ..

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

* roll of gladwrap * roll of tape

* Premade solutions are considered in the works.

Wireless tests were carried out between the cocooned WRT54G and a
senao both connected to downpipes.
Unfortunately due to an antenna and height problems at HTP no link
was able to be setup, BUT after a trip to "the mound" and picking up
NodeHTP [24] and NodeECF [25] using a yaggi things are looking
promising.

CURRENT PROJECTS

* ECF HTP Project
* HTP HUY Project

-------------------------

ECF

* Ordered a few bits and peices, namely a downpipe antenna for the
connection to HTP
* In the process of testing the WRT54G against the veritech/seano
* Node ECF is operational! Coverage is currently mainly over Altona
Meadows

-------------------------

HTP

* My homebrew downpipe turned out to be a leech antenna, with good
receive signals but couldn't send very far at all! So, ordered one
from FreeNet [45] Antennas. NodeHTP [46] now consists of: 8-Slot
Downpipe, WRT54G, 7.2m Mast & a box to put everything in. It's all
here, it just has to be put together. Soon!
* Gradually getting around to building the waveguide, and getting
the AP in order. Should be happening soon
* N-Connectors )" title=";)" /> - just got to get a mast, and the
downpipe material, then it'll be complete!
* Mast & Waveguide ARE BEING BUILT!

-------------------------

GZQ

* After getting the home wireless network working I am now in the
process of collecting mast, another wireless card, low loss cabling,
etc to join the wider community
