Spelling: IETF

Internet Engineering Task Force

The Internet [1] is not really run by anyone, but, the IETF is an
organisation of cooperating volunteers who work together within some
agreed rules to define various protocols. The vast majority of
software on the Internet uses these protocols.

The IETF publishes two sets of documents:

* Internet Drafts are works in progress. Most of the work of
developing protocols is recorded as a series of Internet Drafts until
it is complete.
* Requests For Comment (RFCs) are, despite their name, the more
formal documents of the IETF. The vast majority of protocol in use on
the Internet are defined in one or more RFCs.

See their web page [2]
