(mailto:timshel@pobox.com timshel pobox.com) I live at [NodeDDE] in Footscray. Yes, Timshel is a wierd name, but it's my real name, so don't abuse it :-). I'm a 3rd year Computer Science student at (http://www.rmit.edu.au/ RMIT), I'm also (http://people.debian.org/~timshel/ developer/maintainer) for the (http://www.debian.org/ Debian GNU/Linux) project, and have been hooked on [Linux] and [FreeBSD Free]|[OpenBSD Open]BSD *nix stuff since my first RedHat 3.0 install in '96. As well as being a Melbourne Wireless member, I'm a member of (http://www.luv.asn.au Linux Users of Victoria). My povo student status means that I'm taking my time getting enough stuff together to build my node. I've got an [EnterasysCards Enterasys card] and [Carriers RICOH PCI cradle], but the're currently in testing at a friend's place, since I don't have a PCI2.2 compliant box to get the cradle working in. :-( !!! TODO * Do more testing / playing * Get myself an ISA -> PCMCIA adapter to use at home (I don't have any PCI2.2 compliant PC's) :-( If you've got one you want to get rid of, please contact me ... * Build and test some home-brew cantennas - I do the "other" sort of home brewing, so I want to test how homebrew kit cans go as cantennas ... * Build a dedicated box * Read up on and play around with various protocols, including OSPF (Zebra) and IPSEC (FreeS/WAN) * Get up on the roof and set up some kind of antenna mast. My housemate actually scored a 12M mast from somewhere, but I think it's too tall to legally use without a permit. I'm not sure how long I'll be in my current house, either, so might wait and see what the next house provides ... * Borrow a digital camera and put up some photos from my roof ... I'm hoping to get more involved in [WGRoutingAddressing], and maybe also in [WGSolarPower] in the future.
