This wiki runs the RegExpWiki WikiWiki engine.

The idea for RegExpWiki was spawned because of the need for standardised WikiCode and wiki processing.

RegularExpressions are used because of the widespread availability of parsing libraries for many different programming languages. This particular wiki uses the PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions) library available in the PHP programming language.
