[ShroudedSMAConnector Shrouded SMA Connectors] are the cousins of [SMAConnector SMA-Connectors], and provide identical performance. These shrouded connectors differ only by an extended "shroud" around the connector making them longer than normal [SMAConnector SMA conenctors], therefore making them unable to fully mate with standard connectors. Shrouded connectors are commonly used on [802.11] gear by [Breezecom] due to America's [FCC] requirements (Part 15.203) where by such equipment needs non-standard connectors. Other modified [SMAConnector SMA] solutions to satisfy the [FCC] requirements are to either use "[RTSMAConnector reverse-thread]" or (much more commonly) "[RPSMAConnector reverse-polarity]" connectors.
