I have found issues with the power protection in this kit.

If you have a large capacitive load (high startup current) on the output, it will send the unit into endless oscilation.

This behavior is very pronounced if using this kit with the Asus wl500g or Mitsubishi R100 even with the wireless card removed!

I have been able to design a work around to this issue using a CR circuit
to cause a delayed switch on for the AP of about 1.5 sec.

The components are available cheaply from jaycar.

!! Discussion
This is a great POE kit, with the universal ability of 12v / 5v being 
very handy and eliminating the requirement to have different kits for the two voltages. (Most WRT54G/GS routers use 12v, Wl500g & r100 use 5V)
