Apparently the DWL-1000AP isn't made directly by D-Link, but is rebadged, can't remember from who though. It comes with a setup program that only runs under Windows, but once initialised, it has a web interface to set all the wireless parameters, so from then on it's OS independent. For security, it has 64/128 bit WEP and MAC address filtering. The supplied antenna can be removed so you can add an external antenna to it, but it's an unusual plug.
