!! Goals

* A regional group within Melbourne Wireless, that aims to promote and encourage the growth the wireless network in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. (This includes suburbs like Fitzroy, Northcote, Brunswick, Thornbury, Coburg, Preston, etc etc)

* It seems we are trying to achieve this aim by meeting reguarly, putting faces to names and building friendships, therby giving people a better reason to invest on the network than "it's cool"!!

!! Meetings



* The first one turned out pretty well, with 6-7 people showing up over the course of the afternoon, some good social stuff happening, some cantenna building, and eating brandy pears (otherwise refered to as 'putting the contents of the cantenna to good use'

* The second meeting flopped cos everyone piked! Maybe due to late notice and bad weather.

* Third meeting was a success, with 6-8 people attending. We discussed who had LOS with who, and what we needed to make our node operational.

* Many more meetings since, as people host BBQs or get togethers with the (secret) goal of having people help put their new mast up. {/regexpicons/emoticons/emoticon-face3.png ;)} These are always lots of fun to attend.

!!! future meetings

* Can i suggest we set a regular date for innernorth meetings? Maybe the saturday after MW meetings? (does that make it the 2nd Saturday?). Of course, for this to work, we need someone to organise them {/regexpicons/emoticons/emoticon-face7.png :-)} Any volunteers? :-P

* i would imagine these meetings will be much more laid back than MW meetings, social, and maybe some stuff that members need help with (building a *nix/*BSD box, testing antenna, etc etc). We could maybe even hold them at different members houses (providing they dont mind of course) and help the ind host to get their node active...

* any thoughts from others?

* Someone mentioned we should hang a sign on the wall (saying Inner North Group) at the next meeting and meet underneath. I'll bring a sign along, or make one on the night.
