A flapping router is a router that transmits routing updates that first advertises a destination network via one route, then a different route. This behavior is called [RouteFlapping].



[FlapDampening], best seen implemented in [BGP] as (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2439.html RFC2439), is an attempt to help alleviate these issues, aiming to reduce routing traffic while keeping convergence time for the network low.
